Fire shows & workshops

This track is for people who like flames....

bring on stuff that make large flames (but are also safe)!

Hi gang.
These are the people who make up the core of the fire show as of today:
Itai Preis- Has a lot of experience in teaching Poi, and did many fire dancing shows in the past. He'll be bringing some "flaming Poi" equipment (sounds like something you'd order in a restaurant), Please look for him if you want to join our Poi and jugling fire show on thursday.
Itsik Orr- Is a pro-juggler-physicist and will be doing some fire eating, juggling with flames and sparkling metal cloth.
Tom Sofer- Also has juggling and Poi experience, and will be bringing a hydrogen producing device and moster lens (to burn moster ants?).
Yuval Kedem- Is our master craftsman. He will be bringing exploding gas filled soap bubbles, small hot-air balloons and other amazing stuff.
The "main events" of the fire show, will take place at evening on Thursday And Friday.
The plane is to have all the fire dancing and juggling, with music on Thursday, and set off fireworks and other explosive stuff on Friday.
The events will most likely take place on the lawn, but the final place and settings will be decided at kinnernet.
If you have good tribal music, or anything else that will fit with the atmosphere of the fire dancing, please bring it.
I will be bringing water and some fire safety equipment, but if you have some of your own, bring it as well.
Leftover sparklers and fireworks from Purim will be a nice addition to the user generated fireworks, that we will be setting off on Friday, so bring it if you have any.
Note that we only have a few hours on Thursday to find each other, set up the fire dancing, music and teach people who want to join in. If you don't know me, I'm 1.90 tall with large hair and a name tag that says "Nimrod Rotem"- Very easy to spot.
Eden Shochat is the director for anything that happens on the lake, Yoram Avidan is the director of the airshow and Zvika neter is the director of the power tool drag racing.  They can also advise and essit you.
Boaz Arnon is the man you want for transport of large thing to kinnernet and logistics.
If there is specific equipment you need, or any other help in order to "Do your thing" Please contact me or anyone else I mentioned above.
Have a blast!

 Fire related workshops:

-Fire eating for absolute beginners (Itsik Orr)

 Fire related shows:

juggling with fire ropes                                                                 Fire show with metal cloth

Sorry - Juggling with flames of different colours is cancelled due to a new law in our paranoid country: Lithium Chloride and Potassium Acetate have been illegal (although they are not dangerous substances) by the Police in Israel, becuase their usage in creating coloured flames have allegedly led to dangerous pranks. Therefore I can not get hold of said materials and am forced to cancel the workshop/demonstration. Sorry! Itsik.

Throwing chunks of sodium into water!

Sodium is a highly reactive metal, which breaks down water into hydrogen and oxygen when it comes in contact with it. The result is a large explosion. We have 100 grams to play with, throw into the lake, and sneak into people's pockets before the water fight.

Thermite reaction!

The hottest burrning mixture of chemicals known to man. Easily reaching 2500 degrees C (4500 F). Any ideas about what we can do with half a kilo of the stuff?

Hindenburg project:

We will make Hydrogen from Aluminum and water using a chemical reaction, fill long plastic sleeves , fly them up in the air and ,weather permitting - blow them up in the air. -- Tom Sofer.

Fire Spinning:

Poi class would be available during daylight - brave overachievers are welcome to join me spinning

fire after dark - Itai Preis

Monster Fresnel Lens

Tom Sofer

I am not sure when this activity will be held as it requires sunlight... I will update this post later..

This is not very safe! we will experiment with a 80x100cm fresnel lens capable of heating a small area up to 800 degrees C..

Will it melt Aluminium? Copper? Zinc?

bring all kinds of stuff to melt , and sunglasses (even two!)
